Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Specialist
(Part time, 25 hours a week)
We are looking for a professional who has:
- Minimum of associate degree in social work, deaf studies, rehabilitation, human services, or a related field
- Ability to communicate in American Sign Language and write effectively
- Knowledge of deaf culture and accessibility issues for deaf, hard of hearing, and deafblind individuals
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Personal transportation for community events, training, and appointments
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
The
Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Specialist
will:
- Use email, calendar, Google Drive, and Microsoft Office 365 effectively
- Conduct meetings in person and via Zoom, MS Teams, or Google Meet
- Demonstrate specialized technology including relay services and assistive devices
- Assess consumer needs for assistive devices
- Deliver, install, train on, and troubleshoot assistive devices
- Build relationships and work with people in rural communities
- Work independently, with limited supervision, in mostly solo environments
- Prepare reports and other documents required by the Executive Director and Virginia Department for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing

Office in Abingdon, VA, covering Southwest Virginia including Abingdon, Bristol, Galax, Norton, Pulaski, Radford, Wise, and surrounding areas
